Connecting ChatGPT to ActivityInfo

The ActivityInfo.org plugin is listed in the ChatGPT plugin directory. Add the plugin from the directory and sign in, then you can ask ChatGPT about the data in your ActivityInfo databases. You do not need to enter a server URL.

Before you begin

• An ActivityInfo account, and a database you can view.
• A ChatGPT account.
• Permission to change the database settings, or a database administrator who can do Step 1 for you.

Read Using AI assistants with sensitive data before you connect a database that holds personal data. Use an account on a plan your organization has bought, not a personal one.

Step 1: Enable the MCP server for a database

ChatGPT can only work with databases where the MCP server is enabled.

1. Open the database in ActivityInfo.
2. Open “Database settings”, then click “Security”.
3. Select “Enable the MCP server for this database.”
4. Click “Save”.

Step 2: Add the plugin from the plugin directory

In a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, an administrator controls which plugins are available. Ask your workspace administrator if you cannot find ActivityInfo.org.

1. In ChatGPT on the web, open “Settings”.

   

2. Under “Integrations”, select “Plugins”, then click “Browse directory”.

   

3. Search for ActivityInfo in the plugin directory.

   

4. Click ActivityInfo.org to open its page, then click “Install plugin”.

   

ActivityInfo opens so you can sign in. Continue with Step 3.

Step 3: Sign in and authorize ChatGPT

1. Sign in to ActivityInfo if you are not already signed in.

2. The “Authorize application” screen appears. Check that the authorization code will be sent to chatgpt.com. The reported name, ChatGPT, is marked “Unverified” because the application reports its own name. The domain is what you check before you allow access.

3. Clear the “Also make changes on your behalf” checkbox. This checkbox is selected by default. Clearing it gives ChatGPT read access only, which is enough to read and analyze your data.

4. Click “Allow access”.

   

ChatGPT shows “ActivityInfo.org plugin installed”.

To let ChatGPT create forms or add records later, uninstall the plugin and install it again, this time leaving the checkbox selected. To uninstall, open the ActivityInfo.org page, click the “…” menu next to “Try in chat”, and choose “Uninstall”.

The authorization also appears on the “Authorized Applications” page of your ActivityInfo account settings. You can revoke it there at any time. See Reviewing and revoking connected assistants.

Step 4: Confirm the connection

1. Click “Try in chat” on the ActivityInfo.org page, or start a new chat.

2. Ask ChatGPT to list your databases:

   List my ActivityInfo databases.
   

   ChatGPT lists the databases you can view and tells you which ones have the MCP server enabled.

   

3. Ask about the structure of a form. Replace <name> with a form in the database you enabled in Step 1:

   Show me the fields of the <name> form.
   

   

4. Ask a question about the records:

   How many records are in the <name> form?
   

ChatGPT sees only what your ActivityInfo user can see. If you cannot view a form or a record in ActivityInfo, ChatGPT cannot read it either.
