This article explains the process by which deleted Databases are purged from the hosted ActivityInfo.org platform.
Deleting a Database in ActivityInfo starts a 60-day process that balances the risk of accidental deletion with the importance of fully and irrecoverably deleting data from ActivityInfo.org’s servers.
When | Stage | Description |
---|---|---|
Immediately upon deletion | Tombstoning | The Database is initially only flagged as deleted and hidden. It can be recovered instantly. |
30 days | Backup | The Database and all of its data (Forms, Records, and Reports) are copied to a secondary, encrypted storage location. |
After backup is complete | Removal | Once the backup is complete and verified, then we start removing the Database from the our primary datastore. Databases can still be recovered at this point, but it may take up to an hour to restore from backup, depending on the size of the Database. |
60 days after backup | Purge | At the end of the retention period,we permanently delete the backup from the secondary storage. There is no way to recover after this point. |
Prior to the purge stage, deleted Databases can be recovered through the Billing Account page.
