About the webinar

In this session, we are excited to welcome Sajib Mahanta, WASH and MEL Expert and Alejandro Martin Rojas, Programme Officer from WASTE, and Anas Hussain, Manager, MEAL and Communications at FINISH Mondial Bangladesh, representing a country team working with WASTE**,** who will guide us through their information management approach for driving better programme decisions.

WASTE works across complex water, sanitation and waste management systems involving multiple actors, geographies, markets, implementing partners and institutions.

Measuring change in such a context is challenging. System change often involves multiple actors, interconnected interventions and changes in behaviour, markets, institutional practices and service delivery that unfold over time. No single indicator or dataset can capture the entire picture.

Drawing on experiences from two programmes; FINISH Mondial and FINILOOP, this webinar explores how WASTE moves from programme questions to data, insights, decisions, outcomes and learning.

The ActivityInfo team will also participate to explain how programme logic and results frameworks are translated into connected data models. The country team will share practical experiences of collecting reliable data, and addressing data-quality and operational challenges. And WASTE will connect these experiences to programme management, adaptive implementation, outcome measurement and transparent reporting.

In summary the webinar will cover:

  • Why data for impact?
  • From system change to what we measure
  • Building the data backbone
  • From the field: reliable data in practice
  • From data to programme decisions
  • From outputs to outcomes and impact
  • Learning & transparency

There will also be a Q&A session.

Is this webinar for me?

  • Would you like to explore how programme objectives and results frameworks inform the selection of meaningful indicators and data points?
  • Do you wish to explore how another organization uses ActivityInfo to structure, connect and analyse programme data across countries, locations, partners and reporting periods?
  • Are you curious how you can equip country teams to collect reliable data and use it in programme implementation and what challenges you might encounter?*

Then, join our session!

About the presenters

Sajib Mahanta is a WASH and MEL Expert at WASTE in The Hague, the Netherlands. He holds an MSc in Water Management and Governance from IHE Delft and has around seven years of experience working across water governance, sanitation, service delivery, and sustainable financing. His work has included strengthening governance and accountability through Water Operators’ Partnerships in Malawi, with a focus on improving water service delivery.

At WASTE, Sajib leads global monitoring, evaluation and learning for FINISH Mondial, a WASH programme operating across six countries. His work focuses on developing results frameworks and measuring programme outcomes and impact, and translating evidence into better programme decisions, adaptive management and organisational learning. He is particularly interested in the intersection of water governance, innovative finance, climate resilience and systems change.

Alejandro Martin Rojas is a Programme Officer at WASTE, specialising in plastic waste management and inclusive recycling systems. Through programmes such as FINILOOP, he supports partners in strengthening local waste value chains, developing recycling businesses and improving the livelihoods of informal waste workers. He holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Development from Utrecht University and combines field experience across Asia and Africa with a focus on data-informed programme development.

Anas Hussain is the Manager, MEAL and Communications at FINISH Mondial Bangladesh, where he leads monitoring, evaluation and learning for a sanitation programme spanning seven municipalities in Bangladesh. He has over five years’ experience across humanitarian and development settings, including the Rohingya response in Cox’s Bazar. His work spans survey design, data quality assurance and evidence-based programme learning.

Eliza Avgeropoulou earned her BSc from Athens University of Economics and Business, and her MSc degree in Economic Development and Growth from Lund University and Carlos III University, Madrid. She brings eight years of experience in M&E in international NGOs, including CARE, Innovations for Poverty Action and Catholic Relief Services (CRS). The past five years, she has led the MEAL system design for various multi-stakeholders' projects focusing on education, livelihoods, protection and cash. She believes that evidence-based decision making is the core of high quality program implementation. She now joins us as our Senior M&E Implementation Specialist, bringing together her experience on the ground and passion for data-driven decision making to help our customers achieve success with ActivityInfo.
