Help us document a powerful product that plays an important role in humanitarian relief worldwide!
About BeDataDriven and ActivityInfo
ActivityInfo is a comprehensive platform for data collection, storage, and analysis, primarily in humanitarian aid contexts. It is a Software-as-a-Service product owned and operated by BeDataDriven B.V., a privately owned company based in The Hague in the Netherlands.
Our small but growing team builds ActivityInfo, a web-based information management platform supporting humanitarian relief and development assistance operations. Our platform is used in over 70+ countries by customers such as UNICEF and other UN agencies.
Who we are looking for
We’re looking for someone with three or more years experience in technical writing for a software product, adept in communicating clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Our software product, ActivityInfo, is a powerful and flexible database platform that includes a wide range of features from data collection to data management and analysis. For this reason, good documentation plays a critical role in delivering value to our customers, helping our users understand all that the software offers, and helping them apply a set of general-purpose tools to specific problems in the social sector.
What you will work on
You will take the lead in maintaining and improving our documentation library of over 300 articles. Already comprehensive, there remain many opportunities for improvement.
At the same time, the product is evolving quickly, so there is a high demand for new documentation. You will be involved in the development of new features from an early stage, responsible for ensuring that critical design choices are well-documented and released together with software updates.
You’ll also work with customers and our customer success team to understand how users apply our software, and to author practical how-tos that highlight specific use-cases. You’ll monitor statistics from our documentation site and monitor user feedback as part of a continuous improvement cycle.
What qualifications you must have
- 3+ years of experience in technical writing for software products
- Experience developing documentation targeted to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proficient in writing and editing technical documentation with a strong understanding of technical concepts and terminology
- Keen eye for detail and an excellent ability to organize information into a structured format
- Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and coordinate with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to learn new tools and concepts quickly
What qualifications are nice to have
- Background in or experience with relational database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL etc)
- Experience using and customizing static site generators.
- Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Experience in the social sector (humanitarian relief, health, conservation, etc.)
What we offer
- A salary of €3500 - €6000 per month (before taxes, and including 8% vakantiegeld paid monthly), depending on experience
- Contribution to a pension plan
- 25 days vacation per year
- Hybrid working with flexible hours / location.
- A public transport card for employees in the Netherlands for work-residence travel
- Time and budget for professional development
- Access to OpenUp to improve well-being, through 1:1 sessions, group sessions and self-guided care
