History
ActivityInfo was originally developed in early 2009 for UNICEF’s Emergency Unit in the DRC, who faced the challenge of coordinating two large, multi-year, multi-partner programs– the Program for Expand Assistance to Returnees (PEAR) and the Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM). The first version of ActivityInfo was developed between January and March 2009, and evolved monthly over the rest of 2009 in response to user feedback and emerging operational needs.
In late 2009, ActivityInfo was adopted as the NFI and Education Cluster’s information management platform in the DRC, and in 2010 OCHA began expanding ActivityInfo’s use to the remaining clusters in the DRC.
Because ActivityInfo’s developers were based in eastern Congo throughout 2009, the application has been built from the ground up to function well in the most challenging of environments, optmized for latency-satellite connections and ready for chaotic IT environments with support for browsers from Internet Explorer 6 to Chrome 14.
By 2010, RRM and PEAR evolved into RRMP. For more information, please check the RRMP website at: www.rrmp.org. For more information on the Humanitarian Information Portal of the DRC, please check: www.rdc-humanitaire.net.
